Accidents that can occur during either part of the cycle

This catch-all category covers types of accidents that could occur while riding or during load/unload/queue, and accounts for 15% of the accidents reported to state ride safety agencies. The bulk of these are instances where the report narrative did not contain enough information to categorize the accident.

Entrapment injuries deserve special mention because, even though they are reported infrequently, they can have serious consequences. Don't ride with dangling sleeves, drawstrings or jewelry that might become entangled in the machinery. Watch for pinch points when going through gates, stepping from the platform into the ride vehicle or vice versa, and closing or opening the restraint. When riding, always keep hands, arms, feet and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to its final stop.

The following table lists the types of amusement ride accidents identified in public accident reports provided to Saferparks by state regulatory agencies. Click on the accident category to view database information.
